Psalm 95:2
“Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.”
Gratitude is the doorway into God’s presence. The psalmist reminds us that worship isn’t just quiet reflection, it’s also joyful praise. When we come before God with thanksgiving, we acknowledge His goodness, His faithfulness, and His love that never fails.
Life often tempts us to focus on what’s missing or what’s broken. But thanksgiving shifts our eyes from problems to the Provider. Joyful praise lifts our hearts above the weight of daily struggles and reminds us that God is worthy, no matter our circumstances.
Paul and Silas show us what joyful thanksgiving looks like. In Acts 16, while chained in a prison cell, they prayed and sang hymns to God. Their praise was not silenced by hardship, and God responded by leading them to freedom. Their story reminds us that thanksgiving is powerful – it lifts our hearts and invites God’s presence, even in the darkest places.
When we choose thanksgiving, we invite peace into our hearts. When we sing psalms with joy, we declare that God is greater than our fears. Worship becomes not just an act of duty, but a celebration of His presence.
Let’s practice beginning our prayers with gratitude before asking for anything. Sing a psalm or hymn today, and let joy rise above worry. Write down at least three things you’re thankful for and start thanking God.
