Psalm 23:6 NKJV
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.“
This verse is a powerful promise of God’s unchanging love, care, and faithfulness. The words “surely goodness and mercy shall follow me” remind us that God is a promise keeper. His goodness and mercy over our lives are not temporary and seasonal—they are constant throughout our lives. No matter what challenges we are facing, His goodness and mercy are always guiding and sustaining us.
The second part of the verse speaks of dwelling in the house of the Lord forever. We experience His goodness and mercy all the days of our lives here on earth. However, the psalmist expresses his desire to dwell and have his being in the presence of the Lord, not just in this life but for eternity. Through Christ, we enjoy the assurance that our true dwelling is with Him, both now and forever. Let us therefore trust His goodness, rest in His mercy, and long for His presence each day.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for Your goodness and mercy that follow me every day. Help me trust in Your love and walk in Your presence. May my heart always seek to dwell with You now and for eternity. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
