John 14:12
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
The sheer magnitude of Jesus’ works—healing, resurrecting life, and speaking with divine authority—makes the promise of doing ‘greater works’ seem daunting. Yet, this wasn’t a promise limited to the disciples alone, but a vision of potential for every person who places their faith in Him.
The ‘greater works’ aren’t about surpassing Jesus’ power but about expanding His reach. He ministered within a limited context, but now, through believers worldwide, His message of love and healing resonates across generations. This means we, too, are called and equipped. Our daily acts of faith—prayer, compassion, service, and sharing our story—contribute to this vast, ongoing work.
The heart of this promise lies in the phrase, ‘he who believes in Me’. This isn’t just a passive belief but an active faith energized by the Holy Spirit. With Jesus’ ascension, the Holy Spirit was sent not merely to sustain His mission but to propel it globally.
These words from Jesus offer both encouragement and a call to action, urging believers to embrace their faith and step into a life of transformative impact.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for Your promises and the example You’ve set for us. Strengthen our faith, and fill us with Your Spirit, so that we may live out Your call to greater works. May our lives reflect Your love and truth, reaching others with the hope and grace You provide. Amen.
