Proverbs 14:26-27

In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, and His children will have a place of refuge. The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to turn away from the snares of death.

No one enjoys receiving bad news of any kind or going through a terrible situation that causes anxiety, tension, worry, or even despair. However, when we fear the Lord, we gain a ‘strong confidence’. It’s the firm trust we need to overcome all trials, unexpected situations, and afflictions.

In the fear of the Lord, we, His children, find a place of refuge. He is our strong tower and defender, and we are safe and protected under His wings.

The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life flowing eternally from Him. Death has absolutely no place where God is present. The enemy might attempt to corrupt us by tempting us to sin—moving us away from our place of safety because he knows that sin always leads to death.

But, when we stand on Christ—our firm foundation—with our eyes fixed on Him, we find shelter beneath His wings and we’re protected from every side. With this assurance, we can surely say with strong confidence, “O death, where is your sting?” (1 Corinthians 15:55).

Therefore, we need to fear the Lord with love, awe, respect, and admiration. Let us praise Him for all that He has done, all that He has been doing for us, and for all that He will still do until our last breath.
