1 Peter 3:13 NKJV
“Who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good?”
What is good? The world might consider good and evil to be subjective but the Bible says otherwise. In Mark 10:18, Jesus says, “No one is good—except God alone”. It stands to reason that everything that proceeds from God is good. He is good, and He does good for His children.
When we follow the Lord and the principles outlined in His Word, we become followers of what is good. Goodness is a fruit of the Holy Spirit and when we have Him in our lives, we become bearers of His goodness – making the world around us just a tiny bit better.
In today’s verse, Peter rhetorically asks the reader, who will harm us if we become followers of what is good. It doesn’t mean nothing bad will ever happen to us. It only reiterates the fact that God will make even the harm that’s done to us work together for our good. When we follow the Lord and do what is good in His eyes, He will cause goodness and mercy to follow us all the days of our lives.
Prayer: Father, I’m so glad that You are good, and You do good. May Your Spirit lead me to make the right choices and embody Your goodness in and through my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
