Psalm 103:12

“As far as the east from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.”

Wouldn’t it be perfect if we were all good all the time, making no mistakes and never giving in to our weaknesses? But we know the reality is that no one is good except God alone (Mark 10:18). All of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). However, the good news is that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

Today’s verse says that God has removed our sins as far as the east is from the west. That’s the farthest distance one can possibly imagine. In essence, when God forgives our sins, He doesn’t remember them anymore (Hebrews 8:12). When our past mistakes come back to haunt us even after we’ve repented of them, we must remember that we’re already forgiven.

We live each day by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit equips us to live a life that pleases the Lord – directing us by His Word. We can choose to heed God’s voice in our hearts and ignore the memories of our mess-ups. If you’ve repented and sought God’s forgiveness, you are free to live unencumbered by your past. Don’t bring back to mind what God has forgotten.
