Forgiven Forever

Isaiah 43:25 NIV

“I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.“

When Kate failed her final exams, she was devastated and scared to face her parents as she had let them down. When she reached home, her parents were already aware of her results. As soon as she saw them, tears started trickling down her cheeks. Her parents ran to her and gave her a tight hug. Kate was shocked as she never expected them to behave in such a manner. They may have forgiven her but they probably never forgot the event, even though they loved her immensely. We may all be familiar with this kind of love.

However, in the above verse, the Holy Bible introduces us to a higher kind of love. A love that keeps no score of wrongdoing and is pure, holy, patient, and kind. This is the love that our Lord has for us. God’s love is unique because it is not based on our character but on His righteousness. Even though He is the judge of the world and will pass judgment on the entire human race in time, He reigns with love and kindness.

In fact, God loves us so much that when we commit a sin but later repent and seek His forgiveness, He not only forgives us but keeps no record of our iniquity. It is as though it never even happened. This is the magnitude of God’s love towards His people.

The next time you sin against God, do not run away from Him. On the contrary, run towards Him so that you may receive His pardon and experience His love.

Dear Lord, I know I am a sinner, but Your grace has the power to heal my soul and forgive my shortcomings. Thank You, Jesus, that even though I continue to sin, Your abounding love never runs dry. Help me turn from my wicked ways so that I can live a life pleasing to You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
