Freedom from Sin

Romans 8:11 (NKJV): If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

When we were born, we had sin in us, we lived according to our flesh. This means our minds were set on our flesh and the things of this Earth, which leads to death. The sinful mind has enmity with God and cannot please Him because it is not subject to God’s law. 

But when we become born again, i.e. we repent of our old ways, die to our life in the flesh, and get our spirit reborn as a child in God’s world (i.e. to live in our Spirit guided by the Holy Spirit, who lives in us). The law of the Spirit of Life in Jesus made us free from the law of sin and death. God was instrumental in this that He sent His own Son in flesh, and He condemned sin in the flesh i.e the requirement of righteousness by the law was fulfilled for those who accepted Jesus and His death on the cross as a living sacrifice, that paid atonement for all our sins and consequences of death.

Those led by the Spirit of God are children of God; The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.

For those in Jesus, who do not walk in the flesh, there is no condemnation. When the Spirit of God dwells in them, they are Holy Spirit-minded and get life and peace. With Christ in them, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 

Picture this – the Spirit of Him (Holy Spirit) who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He gives life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit.
