Luke 6:38 “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” (NKJV)
The above verse is an expectation set for all believers. It is a commandment coupled with a reward.
God takes great delight in giving. He blesses His children with both materialistic and spiritual gifts. However, most of the gifts that He gives us is not for us alone, but to be shared with those who are deprived of it. He loves a cheerful giver. When we share our gifts with others, God multiplies our blessings.
Our God is a generous God and has the potential to bless everyone. However, one of the reasons why some of us may lack what others have is simply because we don’t share what is given to us. God wants to encourage the spirit of giving in all of us. In turn, He promises to bless us in good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over as a reward.
The Holy Bible considers giving as an outward sign of our love for one another. It is the sign of being thankful and content with what we have. God considers our giving as an act of sacrifice and a measurement of our faith.
Giving comes easily to those who believe that the Lord is their provider. Let us adopt the spirit of giving knowing that God will provide more than what we need. Remember, in order to be blessed, we need to be a blessing first.
