Psalm 106:1
“Praise the Lord! Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.”
Psalm 106 is the history of God’s goodness to Israel. It also remembers people’s rebellion and provocations. It begins and ends with “Praise the Lord” giving glory to God and emphasizing that nothing should keep us from praising Him for He is good always and His mercy endures forever.
The psalmist mentions the shortcomings of the Israelites and how God out of His mercy demonstrated great and mighty deeds. He is to be glorified not only for His goodness but for our badness. Our badness makes God’s goodness appear more illustrious. Israel’s rebellion, repentance, and God’s deliverance were in a cycle mode.
Sometimes, we are not different from Israelites. We too rebel, repent and witness the mercy of our God. Looking back on our lives, we can boldly glorify God and confess that Yes! He is good and His mercy endures forever.
Let us then come together to celebrate and magnify the Lord as in Psalm 34:1 -3:
“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together. “
Truly, He alone deserves all Honor, Glory and Praise of our lives.
Blessed Day Ahead.
