“For who is God, except the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God? God is my strength and power, And He makes my way perfect.” 2 Samuel 22:32-33
The ways of our Lord are tried and true, and His plans are infallible. He desires to prosper and enlarge us, as evidenced by the countless examples of faithful believers throughout the Bible who trusted in God during times of hopelessness and were blessed abundantly for their faith. One such example is Ruth, a Moabite woman. Ruth’s life was filled with tragedy – her Jewish husband passed away, leaving her childless and alone in a foreign land. Despite the awareness of security her homeland offered, Ruth chose to trust in the GOD of Israel and accompany her mother-in-law to a foreign land. This decision was not without its challenges, as she faced uncertain prospects for the future. Nevertheless, she remained steadfast in her faith in GOD.
Ruth was convinced that GOD alone was her refuge and strength and that she would find safety in His loving embrace. In return, GOD restored her life and blessed her with a faithful husband named Boaz, with whom she bore a son named Obed. This son would later become the grandfather of King David, and ultimately, part of the genealogy of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
During our own difficult circumstances, it is easy to feel hopeless and afraid to speak out about our struggles. But we must remember that Jesus is our only source of hope and that He will sustain us through even the toughest trials. He has done it before, and He will do it again. Therefore, let us not give up, but hold fast to our faith in Him, knowing that He is faithful to His promises.
