Isaiah 54:3
You shall expand to the right and to the left, and your descendants will inherit the nations, and make the desolate cities inhabited.
We have a God who can do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). If we position our life with a submitted heart to the Lord, His promises are Yes and Amen in Christ.
Firstly, the above promise speaks of an increase or expansion. Be fruitful and multiply was God’s first commandment to man (Genesis 1:28). This includes fruitfulness in earthly life, such as family, career, finances, health, etc. But more importantly, it is an increase in the grace and knowledge of God so that our increased influence can make His kingdom grow to our left and right.
Next, it has blessings for our generation. Isaiah 44:3 says He will pour His Spirit on our descendants and His blessing on our offspring. The most precious inheritance we can give our children is a legacy of faith in Christ. And through the Holy Spirit, our generations can impact the world and even nations for Christ.
Lastly, it speaks of rebuilding ruined and desolate areas. Sin destroys, kills, and mars. But in the careful hands of our Potter, even a marred life can turn into a new vessel fit for His use. We can rest in confidence that the God who raised Jesus from death is still breathing life into the barren, dead areas of our hearts and lives today.
You might be going through trials of failure, shame, grief, loss or betrayal, lashed by storms. But do not fear, be comforted. The mountains can shake, and the hills move. But God’s unfailing love will never leave you, and His covenant of peace will never fall apart (Isaiah 54:10).
Come and fall in love with this compassionate Savior over and over again!
