God Our Help

Psalm 27:9

Do not hide Your face from me; do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; do not leave me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation.

This verse is a heartfelt cry from David, a man after God’s own heart. David knew both the heights of divine favor and the depths of human vulnerability. In this moment, he is not just asking for help—he’s pleading for presence. He’s asking God not to turn away, not to abandon him, not to let God’s anger or silence replace the intimacy they once shared.

We’ve all experienced these moments—when God seems far away, our prayers feel unanswered, and fear quietly suggests we’ve been left behind. However, David’s words remind us of a powerful truth: God has been our help, and He is still the God of our salvation. Even when we feel forsaken, we are not. Even when we feel unworthy, God’s grace remains.

This verse teaches us that it’s okay to be honest with God. We can bring our fears, doubts, and desperation to Him. He doesn’t shy away from our vulnerability; rather, He embraces it. And in that place of raw honesty, we often find the deepest assurance of His love.

Prayer: Lord, sometimes we feel far from You. Ever so often, we wonder if You’ve turned away or if we’ve wandered too far. But today, we remember that You have been our help. You are the God of our salvation. Please don’t hide Your face from us. Draw near, speak peace to our hearts, and remind us that we are never alone. Amen.

Today, we honor the hearts and hands that shape futures—our teachers. We are grateful for the wisdom, support, and encouragement of our pastors, prayer group leaders, parents, and others who’ve taught us. They are more than educators; they are mentors, role models, and lifelines of hope whose impact echoes far beyond the classroom/church/home. We wish all educators a joyful Teachers’ Day! Thank you for the incredible impact you have on countless lives!
