God’s Promise and Oath

Hebrews 6:18

that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.”

We all know Our God is a promise keeper. His word is filled with his promises for all who believe in Him. The promises of God are all founded in his eternal counsel; this counsel of his is immutable. It is unchangeable. These promises are the result of God’s eternal purposes for the believers. These counsels are unchangeable because they are settled between Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and Our God knows the end from the beginning, and nothing new can arise to change.

These promises founded upon God’s unchanging counsel are confirmed by the Oath of God. We can make an oath when we swear on something greater than ourselves. God made an oath by swearing upon Himself because He has nobody greater than Him. Hence, we proclaim that He is a promise keeper. Therefore, both His promise and oath are unchangeable. Our God is truth there is no lie in Him.

God’s promises are not hasty ones, they are filled with strong consolations and sanctification. Consolations support us under any strong trials we go through. Sanctification enables us to walk in the fear of the Lord and embrace His holiness. So, His promises result in the accomplishment of His eternal purpose.

We who are born again, blood washed are entitled to these promises. Once we were children of wrath now through Christ are children of righteousness. We were brought out from darkness into His marvelous light. We take refuge in Him as He is the fortress and will hold on to the endless hope that is ours through Christ Jesus. Our hope never runs out. Therefore, let us hold firm in faith and reap the courage to lead a victorious, abundant, and blessed life glorifying Jesus.

Blessed Day Ahead.
