Romans 8:2 NKJV
“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 proclaims that all who are in Christ are a new creation. The old has passed away, and the new has come into being. God has blessed us with a Helper, the Holy Spirit, to enable us to lead this new life filled with Godly transformation. The Holy Spirit leads and guides us in God’s ways because He knows them as He is from God.
Today’s verse powerfully declares the freedom we have in Christ, which is possible through the Holy Spirit. Here, the Holy Spirit is indeed called the Spirit of life.
Before Jesus came, we were bound by the law of sin and death, meaning sin had control over us, with death as the ultimate consequence. The law of sin brings about guilt, shame, and separation from God. But through Jesus, a new law has taken effect: the law of the Spirit of life. This law, given by the Holy Spirit, sets us free from the power of sin and its consequences. It brings life, peace, and victory.
When we put our faith in Jesus, the Holy Spirit empowers us to live righteously, not by our strength, but through His power working in us. Through this divine exchange, we are no longer slaves to sin but children of God. So, let us glorify His name through the life that the Spirit of life empowers us to lead.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for setting me free from the power of sin and death through Jesus Christ. Help me walk in the freedom of the Holy Spirit, relying on His strength and guidance. May my life reflect the victory I have in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
