Psalm 92:5-6 NIV
“How great are Your works, Lord, how profound Your thoughts! Senseless people do not know, fools do not understand.”
Throughout our day, we find evidence of God’s masterful creation. From the majestic trees, each unique in purpose and design, to the perfectly timed sunrise and sunset. We can each recount testimonies of God’s goodness in our lives and have experienced God’s hand amidst storms. However, we probably focus on things that don’t go our way—like impatiently waiting for an Uber ride or a difficult colleague at work.
In Psalms 34:1 (NIV), as David was praising God for saving his life once again, he writes, “I will extol the Lord at all times; His praise will always be on my lips.” Take a minute to ponder and praise God. We are surrounded by examples of God’s goodness and works that extend beyond our little world.
It’s easy to get disheartened by the challenges of this world. However, if we stay focused on God’s great works and His numerous thoughts towards us, our perspective shifts. We move from uncertainty to faith in the God of the impossible; from worry and anxiety to trust in His sovereignty. When we see things from His perspective, it changes our vision and consequently our lifestyle.
Psalm 139:17-18 (NIV) says, “How precious to me are Your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with You.” Allow this to sink in. The Almighty God thinks countless thoughts about you. Yet another wonderful reason to praise our Heavenly Father!
