Matthew 6:15
If you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
In today’s verse, our Lord Jesus Christ is describing the importance of forgiveness for a righteous life. Forgiving someone who accidentally bumps into us or is rude to us may be easy. However, forgiving someone who has caused us deep wounds can be challenging.
Offering forgiveness requires us to acknowledge our raw feelings honestly. It’s a process that takes time, but we must find a way. We may not be able to forgive those who shatter our world immediately. But forgiveness is essential for true healing. When we forgive, it frees us from the crippling power of resentment and opens the door to the possibility of repairing the relationship.
Forgiveness improves our relationship with our mighty God. When we forgive each other, we demonstrate God’s forgiveness and live as true followers of God.
“Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” (Romans 12:19). He will settle accounts. So let us surrender the thoughts and feelings that cause unforgiveness into the hands of our Father. Let us practice forgiveness, free our hearts, and live in peace.
When we face challenges in forgiving others, let us remember the numerous times our Lord Jesus Christ has forgiven us, blessed us, and paid the price by giving His life for us. May the Holy Spirit help us never to withhold forgiveness from others. Amen!
