Acts 5:31 – “Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.”
It is interesting when we read what happened from verses 12 through 41 of Acts 5. The Apostles were out there performing many miraculous signs; people were being healed; people began to believe in Jesus, and they continued preaching the good news of salvation to whomever wanted to hear.
The Jewish leaders were jealous and arrested the Apostles, but once again, an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and they were freed. Absolutely no one dared to stop them from preaching. The high priest though, warned them to stop spreading the news about Jesus, and gave them strict orders not to teach in His name.
At this point Peter and the Apostles said that they were going to obey God – not men. They were then flogged, beaten, but not killed. Nothing could stop them from preaching the news about Christ the Savior whom God raised from the dead.
Some people thought the Apostles spreading the news could be stopped, and thought that if this wasn’t from God, everyone would be dispersed and “it all would come to nothing.”
But Praise God for His perfect plan of salvation to all who believe in Jesus! Here we are more than 2,000 years after all this took place, and we are still talking, still going on strong, still praising our wonderful Savior, our Prince of Peace and Author of our Salvation, through whom our sins are forgiven: Jesus Christ! Hallelujah!
