In life we always have a choice. The quality of life we lead is determined by the choices we make. Its about making the right choice. What we sow, so shall we reap. What we give, so shall we receive.
In the above verse, James the apostle is encouraging us to make the right choice. To choose righteousness above all else. When God became flesh and lived amongst us, He showed us the way to live. He became the perfect sacrifice for all our sins. Jesus is the perfect example of everything that is righteous and pure.
Nobody puts fresh food in a dirty vessel. Similarly, we cannot draw close to Jesus with a dirty mind and an impure heart. Fortunately for us, when Jesus died on the cross of calvary His wonder working blood cleansed us all and made us new. We are already righteous in His eyes. We just need to make the simple choice of accepting Christ and honoring His Godly presence in our lives. Can we all accept and receive Christ in our lives, just like He accepted us in our lowest? Its a simple decision that can make a long lasting impact in our lives.
