1 Corinthians 2:16—”For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.”
In this chapter, Paul deals with wisdom; Not earthly wisdom which passes away with a person when he/she dies, but wisdom from God. God imparts to us wisdom through His Holy Spirit which is described as – ‘What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him’. The Holy Spirit searches through everything even the depths of God and is solely able to comprehend the thoughts of God.
Paul gives an example of himself when he spoke to the people, he was fearful and trembled but he did not rely on his own wisdom. He was able to speak as he relied on the demonstration of the Spirit and the power of God to change and convict his audience.
The Holy Spirit, who is from God, reveals to us wisdom that we need so we might understand the things freely given to us by God. And we in turn talk about this to others. We were not taught by human wisdom but by the Holy Spirit, who interprets spiritual truths to believers. The secular world does not accept the things of the Spirit of God. These include scientists and people with high levels of knowledge of the world. They consider the Holy Spirit and its things as folly, sillyness because they are unable to understand them (being spiritually undiscerned). The believer tests and accepts all things revealed because when revealed, we acquire wisdom from the mind of Jesus Christ. Spirit can be known only by spirit—God’s Spirit and our spirits in open communion. When we are spiritually alive, we have access to everything God’s Spirit is doing, and can’t be judged by unspiritual critics. Isaiah’s question was, “Is there anyone around who knows God’s Spirit, anyone who knows what he is doing?” It was answered: Christ knows, and we have Christ’s Spirit. We believers have the mind of Christ revealed to us by his Spirit. We experience His sanctifying power in our hearts, and bring forth good fruits in our lives.
Remember to be spiritually alive as you go about your day, today. Walk in the spirit, pray in the spirit, talk in the spirit, work in the spirit. Let the Holy Spirit take over your soul and provide wisdom while leading you through a prosperous life.
