Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Romans 5:5
Many neighborhoods get a limited water supply and most communities live on a trickle. Usually, one can witness fights, high levels of stress, sparing use of water, aggression, etc., in these areas during the water collection process.
It’s hard to believe that there could be an endless supply of anything. The promise of this verse, even in its context of suffering and difficulty, is that we have a limitless supply of love. The Holy Spirit fills our hearts with love. The Holy Spirit supplies us with this love, which is as big as God. Let’s open our hearts to receive the blessing of God’s love. We have the power to love others out of God’s deep pool of love.
God sustains us as we experience trials and sufferings. It kindles a kind of hope that does not disappoint us. There is an assurance of this because God has proved His intention to complete His work in us.
The proof is – the love of God poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. This love is not a sentimental mush but self-giving and sacrificial where nothing is withheld from us. He has given us the greater. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. He will give us all the other things we need(Romans 8:32) day by day. He will give us, whatever we need, in full measure and not sparingly. Godly hope will not disappoint us. The flow of God’s love is not a trickle but limitless.
