Proverbs 8:32-33
“Listen to me, my children, for blessed are those who keep my ways. Hear instruction and be wise, and do not disdain it.”
Today’s scripture emphasizes the importance of wisdom. Here, we are encouraged to listen to wisdom so we can lead a blessed life. God’s Word provides wisdom, but to truly gain it, we must listen and obey.
Jesus compared those who hear His words and follow them to a wise man who built his house on a rock. This house withstood rain and flooding (Matthew 7:24-25). In contrast, those who hear His words but do not obey are likened to a foolish man who built his house on sand, resulting in its collapse during the storm (Matthew 7:26-27).
Life presents many trials and challenges, and no one is exempt. However, those who trust and obey the Lord can overcome these difficulties with victorious faith. Their enduring faith demonstrates its worth (1 Peter 1:6-7). However, those who do not trust and obey often do not survive the challenges they face.
In both ordinary and difficult situations, we should always seek God’s wisdom, listen to it, and adhere to it. God’s wisdom is the greatest form of wisdom. With God’s works before us and His Word in our hearts, we have the opportunity to hear wisdom and learn from it daily. It is not enough to merely listen to wisdom; we must also follow its ways (Proverbs 8:32), doing everything it instructs without straying from its guidance. Those who heed wisdom’s call are assured of happiness and are truly blessed.
Therefore, as we meditate on God’s Word, let us listen and gain the wisdom needed to walk through life effectively.
