Psalm 107:9 “For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.”
The Bible often describes our longing for God as a deep hunger or thirst. Hunger and thirst are basic drives in our bodies, and there is also a hunger and thirst of the soul.
Just as our bodies crave water, our souls crave God’s presence and His living water. Jesus said, “Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst” (John 4:14 NIV). When we come to God, He satisfies our deepest spiritual thirst with His love, peace, and presence.
Hunger represents our desires and needs. God promises not only to meet our basic needs but to fill us with good things. David is one such character and the Psalms reveal how he longed and thirsted for God in his worst times. God was delighted and David is known for a man after God’s own heart. Seek Him daily to know Him and all the good things will be added unto you.
