Isaiah 54:10 For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but My kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall My covenant of peace be removed, says the Lord.
This verse reminds us of God’s unwavering and unchanging love for us.
We can gather three insights from the verse:
- God’s kindness is not limited to our works
- God’s love and peace are with us in times of difficulty
- God’s covenant of love is eternal
Metaphorically, the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed. Often these structures represent hurdles and difficulties we face. If you have noticed, we tend to grow close to God in times of our difficulty. We pray, worship and spend more time with Him.
In the same narrative, God gives us His comforting peace and love in times of our difficulty. No matter how big the mountains may be, God will give us the comfort and the strength to cross over.
And thirdly, mountains and hills are made of rocks and soil that change over time. These changes occurs due to external heat, pressure and rain. It changes the mountain’s shape, size and strength. But God’s love and His covenant of peace are unchanging, irrespective of worldly situations or external conditions.
Hence brethren, let us be reminded of the faithfulness of our God. May His unchanging love give us the strength and courage to face whatever lies ahead, knowing that He is with us always.
