Micah 7:18 NIV
“Who is a God like you, Who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of His inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.”
In today’s verse, the prophet Micah asks a rhetorical question: “Who is a God like You?” The answer is: there is absolutely no one else like our God! He forgives our sins and delights to show us His mercy. He does not treat us as our sins deserve (Psalm 103:10) but freely offers us His grace and forgiveness.
We deserved to be punished for our sins, but Jesus Christ took our place. No matter how many times we miss the mark, God is faithful to hear our heart’s cry when we repent. His anger is for a moment but His favor lasts a lifetime (Psalm 30:5). What a blessing it is to know the deep love our Father has for us!
Today, if you’re hesitant about approaching God because of some unconfessed sin in your life, don’t stay away from Him. Take a few minutes to confess your shortcomings to the Lord, turn back to Him, and let Him assure you of His great love for you. God delights to show you His mercy. All you need to do is return to Him and seek Him once again.
Prayer: Father, I’m sorry for all the times I’ve given in to temptation and gone against Your Word. Forgive me Lord and help me live a life that glorifies Your Name. I’m so grateful for your unending mercy and love. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
