God Our Protection

Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling. Psalm 91:9-10

Sometimes we experience situations in life that make us scared or overwhelmed. Think of a time when you struggled to cope with a similar situation. You were not sure what you would do or how you were going to make it. Probably, it had to do with health, finances, relationship, or a situation where you were afraid for your life. 

These verses in Psalm 91 give us amazing promises to lean on in our dark times. It starts with a step of learning to abide in Christ. A dwelling place suggests a safe place to stay. It means that you make God’s companionship your permanent dwelling. Let us decide to be with God, not just for a short while but permanently, seeking God’s presence actively. It means to set our minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth (Colossians 3:2). God has raised us with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:6).

We have become the habitation of the God Most High by faith through the Spirit. We are the temple of the living God. “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be my people (2 Corinth 6:16). God has taken residence in me, and no evil rising against me can penetrate Him.

“God Most High” denotes His supreme authority over all other authorities and powers. When God dwells in us and we in Him, there is a promise that follows: no evil nor any sickness can conquer us. God is our Protection!
