Out of the Miry Clay – Confidence For Deliverance

Psalm 40 : 4—”Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.”

David in all his problems waited patiently; he continued to believe, hope, and pray. Another example we see in the Bible is Christ — Jesus Christ’s agony, in the garden and on the cross, was a horrible pit and miry clay. Doubts and fears creep into everyone’s minds at some point. They are like a horrible pit and miry clay.

At times like this, it is easy to fall prey to the promises of the proud, the world’s treasures, idols, bad habits, false gods or anything that may give relief (albeit temporary). But those that wait patiently for God do not wait in vain. Those who feel downtrodden, spent, tired in their spiritual life have been relieved by the grace of God and can stand testimony to this. They were brought up, out of their horrible pit. We have a God who pulls us out of the miry clay. God’s power and abundant grace can help the weakest, or those who feel unworthiest of all, but who still trust in Him.

Christ is the Rock on which any poor soul in miry clay can stand fast. When we place your hope in God, the evidence of this ought to be a steady, regular walk and conduct in God’s Ways. When you place your trust and hope in Him, God fills you with His joy and peace. Although you go through miry clay, you will have peace because God will hold your hand and lead you through the clay. By faith, in the sufferings and glory of Christ, we learned to fear the justice of God and to trust in the mercy of God through Jesus Christ. If you cling to your faith in Christ our rock, you will see God’s providence and grace daily. Christ will lift you of the miry clay into His glory.
