1 John 5:4 – “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith.”
The dictionary defines the word ‘overcome’ as, “to succeed in dealing with a problem or defeat/overpower an opponent.” ‘Overcome’ is a powerful word, and as children of God, we are meant to be overcomers. The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ has given us the power to live as conquerors in this world. But too often, we live as victims rather than victors.
No matter what you are going through right now, you are not a victim of your circumstance. You already have the victory through Jesus. However, there are times when the situation doesn’t change and prayers seem unanswered. Even then, you can choose to live by faith and refuse to let the situation have control over you.
When you worry or fret, you are not acting in faith. If you truly believe Jesus is the Lord of your life, you will rest in the assurance that He will work all things out for your good and His glory. If you’re currently feeling overwhelmed with all that’s going on in your life, spend some time in God’s presence and quieten your mind. Speak scriptures over yourself and be assured that God’s got you in the palm of His hand.
