Prayers and peace

Philippians 4:6-7—”Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

In our world, it is highly appreciated when people take control to get things done, to get things sorted, and to get things organized. There is a term called ‘proactive’ which is used to describe this behaviour.

The Bible tells us that we needn’t take control all the time. We are required to work, to the best of our ability with our God-given talents, in whatever we put our mind to or whatever is required of us. There are things beyond our ability or even control. That’s when we need to – ‘Be still and know’ that we have a God; who is looking after us, looking out for us and who is our keeper. (Psalm 46:10)
When we do our best, while maintaining a good relationship with God, God will take care of our needs and wants.

We need not be anxious. How do we stay out of anxiety in anxious times? Constant prayer is the recommendation. While praying, thank God for everything including your situation. Our ways are not God ways, neither are our plans any where close to God’s plans. We don’t know, as yet, what’s on the other side of our trouble-bridge. But, we can be sure that God is walking with us while we are on that bridge. God walks us over to the side of victory, if we stay with Him.

We must ask God for our needs but also thank God to acknowledge all His mercies to us. God knows our wants or desires before we even ask Him but when we ask God and go to God, it shows that we value God’s mercy to us and that we are dependent on him.
When we depend only on God and live a prayerful life, a beautiful thing happens. The peace of God – a comfortable sense of being reconciled to God, of having a part in His favor, and the hope of the heavenly blessedness will set in, in our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. This will keep us from sinning under troubles, and from sinking under them. It will keep us calm and with inward satisfaction.
Remember this, you have a universal answer to all of your problems and it is called prayer.
