Surely God does not reject one who is blameless or strengthen the hands of evildoers. He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy. Job 8:20-21 (NIV)
We live in a world where immoral people with less integrity often seem to succeed in life. Even though they lie, deceive, or speak maliciously, they get promotions, higher positions, and even authority over those who live uprightly and fear God.
Throughout the Bible, we see many characters who lived under the rule of leaders who did not believe in God or live righteously. These rulers lived comfortable lives and often died at an old age, which may seem like success. However, life without Christ has no true meaning.
The Bible tells us that Satan is the ruler of this world. He helps evil people succeed, using them to bring chaos. However, for those who believe that Jesus is Lord, everything that happens to them ultimately works for their good. Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
Our God stands with blameless and righteous people. His grace is upon those who are rejected by the world. He is a just God who does not empower evildoers. In fact, even though they may appear successful in this life, without repentance and turning to God, eternal life remains out of their reach.
As God’s children, we should humble ourselves so that God can lift us in due time (1 Peter 5:6). Amidst everything, we must continue to believe that our promotion comes from the Lord, not from people. When we live with this mindset, we will be less concerned about how those who do not know God seem to find growth and prosperity in their lives, because we walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).
