Rely on God’s Strength

Psalm 21:13

“Be exalted, O Lord, in Your own strength! We will sing and praise Your power.”

Strength often equates to power. People in powerful positions usually have an emotional or physical hold over those under them. While good leaders do not abuse their strength, we’ve also seen the harsh reality of the other side. David was a powerful king, yet he wasn’t perfect; he abused his position quite a few times. In today’s verse, we see King David exalting the only perfect King– praising His strength and power.

When we’re wronged, we may feel tempted to manipulate people or situations and bend them to our will. We tend to rely on our strength to get us out of tricky circumstances. It’s human nature to seek vengeance and fair judgment. But the Lord says, “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay”(Deuteronomy 32:35). When you rely on God’s strength, He will work on Your behalf.

Even as we observe the International Day of Non-Violence today on account of Gandhiji’s birthday, let’s decide to eschew violence in any form – be it in our thoughts, words or actions. It is the meek who will inherit the earth(Matthew 5:5). Trust in the Lord and rely on His strength. No matter what comes your way, God will strengthen you – emotionally, physically and spiritually – to do all things according to His will.
