Psalm 20:7-8 “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.” KJV
Covid-19 has affected our day-to-day life and hurt the economy all across the globe. It has been an eye-opener and a rude shock to the whole of humanity. The toughest and the most powerful people around the world are faced with hardship, job security, health concerns and of course death. This deadly virus is affecting everyone regardless of our stature, class, intelligence, riches and power.
What we need to do today is introspect on our belief system. Are we putting our faith and hopes on perishable things? This pandemic is proof that all the power and the money of this world cannot buy us peace and security from the things to come. Who then, can you trust? Who is unfailing in every situation and above every power? It is the Lord our God.
Today we are encouraged to put our faith and trust in the name of Jesus. We are reminded that those who believe in the name of the Lord will always stand upright irrespective of their situations. A well-known Bible verse says “Weeping may endure for the night but joy comes in the morning.” This verse is true for those who hold on to the name of the Lord and believe that it is only by His might that we can overcome the challenges that confront us. It is the unfailing and protective hand of God that keeps us going.
Struggles are common to everyone. However, those that put their trust in Him, will not be put to shame. On the contrary, they will mount up with wings like eagles and forge ahead despite the challenges. Let us make a commitment today, that we will lay aside all worldly possessions that we cling on to and hold on to His true and holy name.
