Psalm 37:7
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
The psalmist reminds us that waiting on the Lord is not being anxious but having a calm trust, like a child confident in their parent’s care. Resting in Him means more than pausing; it is releasing control and trusting Jesus to protect and provide.
When we see others moving ahead while we are still waiting for answers, it is easy to feel upset or left behind. But this psalm reminds us that anger, worry, and resentment only harm us. They take our focus off Jesus and fill our hearts with unrest.
Think about Lazarus in John 11. Mary and Martha thought Jesus was too late when their brother died. But He was not late. He was working on a bigger plan. By waiting, they saw an even greater miracle: Lazarus raised from the dead. Sometimes Jesus delays, not because He’s ignoring us, but because He’s preparing something better than we imagined.
So, when prayers seem unanswered, we can trust that Jesus is working behind the scenes. Our job is not to push or rush Him but to stay close to Him, keep our hearts free from bitterness, and wait with hope.
His timing is always perfect, His love never fails, and His plans are always good. If you feel like worrying today, take a deep breath and say Jesus has never been late!
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me rest in You, trust Your timing, and wait with peace. Amen.
