Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Many times we are confused about what we must do in today’s world. Sometimes we conform, as taught in the Bible, to obey authority. But other times we stand apart from what is happening in the world, especially after knowing the truth. A common example – many people feel compulsion to consume beverages at cocktail events. They feel they should not stand out at an executive event. ‘It is what we must do at that level.’ Is there truth in that or are we becoming well-adjusted to a culture without thinking? Is that the way we should live (our will)? What if we fixed our attention to God instead? Would we then require to do this, or would God be able to advance us without conforming to wordly ways? Our total conformance to culture will drag us down to immaturity.
Focussing our mind on God will change us from the inside out and renew our mind. God will enable us to readily discern and recognize what He wants from us; to quickly respond to His will. God’s Will will bring out the best of us and help us develop a maturity.
Father God, help us fix and renew our mind on you so we easily recognize your Will. Teach us your Ways and give us your Peace. In Jesus name… Amen
