Our gratitude to God is often expressed for blessings already bestowed: our families, friends, the splendor of creation, material possessions, and favorable circumstances. Today, we joyfully celebrate God’s benevolence, yet Psalm 7:17 reveals David’s distinctive form of thanksgiving amidst adversity—facing false accusations, slander, and injustice.
In this Psalm, David declares, “I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the Lord Most High” (Psalm 7:17). The source of David’s unwavering positivity in dire circumstances lies in the characteristics of God. Our God is righteous and constantly does good. Even when His response is no, He is still correct. He is right even when He asks you to leave your home and follow Him. Are you willing to praise Him for His righteousness?
