If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at
the right hand of God. Colossians 3:1
Setting our minds on things God wants us to focus on is of utmost importance in our journey as
a believer. In Colossians 3:1, the Bible asks us to seek the imperishable things in the heavenly
realm instead of obsessing over materialistic wealth. Although it is required to have a
well-planned and secure life here on earth, God sets the right order of priorities to prosper each
one of us. Preparation for eternity is the essence of our lives on earth as we set an example for
other fellow believers to focus on the right things.
When we are raised to be in oneness with Christ, it is God’s will for us to become more like
Jesus inwardly, by choice. Throughout the Bible, we can see that the choices people made
either limited God’s power to establish things or made great ways to allow Him to use their lives.
God can do unfathomable things with a surrendered heart and a humble spirit. Seeking the
things that are above gathers the kind of treasures God intends for us to possess.
Dear God, open our eyes today to seek the things in the unseen where you are seated. Help us
to rely on your infinite wisdom that will never fail. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
