Proverbs 2:6
“For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.”
When we think of someone wise, we’d probably think of scientists, inventors, tech innovators or world leaders. But according to the Bible, a wise person is someone entirely different from the world’s definition. If you want wisdom from the Lord, take a look at the verses preceding today’s key verse (Proverbs 2:1-5).
This passage says that you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God if you:
- Receive God’s word
- Treasure up His commandments
- Make your ear attentive to wisdom
- Incline your heart to understanding
- Call out for insight
- Raise your voice for understanding
- Seek it like silver
- Search for it as for hidden treasures
Essentially, all we need to do to receive God’s wisdom is seek it. When we pay attention to God’s Word for us and seek Him wholeheartedly, He will fill us with His wisdom. James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”
The next time you find yourself utterly clueless on how to face the day, how to solve a problem you’re facing, or how to react in a particular situation, turn to the Lord for wisdom. Spend some time in prayer, look to His Word for guidance and You will find it.
