Stirring up Love

Hebrews 10:24

Let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works.

In a world that often encourages isolation, self-focus, and competition, Hebrews 10:24 calls us to something greater: intentional community. This verse reminds us that the Christian journey was never meant to be walked alone. It urges us to consider how we can inspire, encourage, and challenge each other toward love and good deeds.

“Stir up” suggests active effort. Love and good works don’t always happen naturally—we have to nurture them. Sometimes, others’ encouragement is the spark we need to serve more boldly or love more freely. Likewise, our words or presence can be that spark for someone else.

This verse invites us to shift our focus outward: Who around us needs support? Who could use a word of encouragement? What small action today could stir up love in someone’s life?

On the other hand, we’re sometimes quick to encourage others but slow to respond to encouragement ourselves. Today’s verse calls us to a rhythm of mutual encouragement, a shared stirring towards love and good works. It doesn’t just speak to what we should do for others but also reminds us that we need others to help us grow.

Being encouraged is not a sign of weakness. It is a sign of humility. We all have moments when our love grows cold or our desire to do good wanes. In those moments, God uses others to speak life, truth, and direction into our hearts. Receiving encouragement is part of walking in the community God designed for us.

Be open to the wisdom, support, and prayers of those God has placed around you. Receive their encouragement so you can encourage others in return. Stay blessed, and be a blessing!
