The Crown Awaits

2 Timothy 4:8

There is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

For Paul, keeping the faith was more than just believing the right things. It meant trusting Jesus every day, holding on to His promises, and living like they are always true.

Keeping the faith is not always easy. Paul compared it to a fight and a race – both take effort and determination. We all struggle at times to trust God fully. It’s easier to rely on ourselves or give up when life gets tough. But Jesus tells us to keep going. Just like you can’t win a race without crossing the finish line, faith must be held onto until the very end.

It’s like a runner who keeps going even when tired, or a soldier who refuses to give up no matter the cost. That’s what real faith looks like: staying loyal to Jesus until the end.

The crown of righteousness isn’t only for Paul. It’s for everyone who loves Jesus and looks forward to His return. It’s not about being the fastest or the strongest – it’s about being faithful. And when we receive our crowns, we will gladly lay them at Jesus’ feet (Revelation 4:10), because all our victories come from Him. Stay in the race. Stay strong in the fight. Keep believing His Word. Your crown is ahead.

Prayer: Lord, help me stay faithful until the end. Keep my eyes fixed on You and Your return. Amen.
