1 Peter 5:6-7

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

In 1 Peter 5, the apostle Peter encourages believers to remain humble and steadfast through trials, reminding us that God cares deeply for us. Verses 6 and 7 say, “Humble yourselves under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your care on Him, because He cares for you.”

In our world today, humility is often mistaken for weakness. But biblical humility? It’s actually our strength; strength under surrender. It’s not thinking less of yourself—it’s about knowing that you’re not in control, and trusting the One who is.

What does “care” really mean?

As a teenager, maybe it’s the pressure to fit in, or the fear of not being enough. For a young adult, it could be career anxiety or uncertainty in relationships. If you’re a parent, perhaps you carry the weight of your children’s safety or your financial responsibilities. And for someone older, it could be the loneliness of loss or the fear of declining health.

These are real, everyday burdens—and God invites you to bring them to Him.

The word “cast” isn’t passive—it’s intentional. It means to throw it off. To let go. To trust that God’s hands are strong enough to carry what you can’t.

So today, humble yourself. Lay it all down at His feet. Cast your care on Him—because He truly cares for you.
