Matthew 7:7
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
Ask, seek and knock. In this very verse the Lord helps us understand and acknowledge our being that he created. We ask from our mouth. We seek from our sense of asking and knowing; using our very minds and we knock with our hands. In Deuteronomy 4:29 it says but if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
What is the Lord telling us through these verses? It is not difficult to know the Lord. It is not difficult to love him. It is not difficult to seek his continual presence. The most simple relationship if anyone can have is with our loving father. Everything on this earth is complicated or twisted. Jesus has called each one of us to know him; to give us life and give it to the fullest. He has said in his word,” Come to me, and I will give you rest”. Rest from the mundane and the normal. Rest from the heavy burdens that we carry everyday. Rest from a troubled relationship. Rest from anger, resentment, jealousy, gossip…..Seek him with all your heart in everything you do and say. As we all walk this journey of different kinds we will only find his rest and his grace that will give us life.
Many of us walk with him only a while and only for a season. We forget him in the summer when the days are warm and only remember him during the winter and the rains when we fall into a time of lack. Let storms come; let rain fall; let one be in the desert – yet in all of life’s seasons remember the only shepherd who calls out to you. Everything will fall apart in life but the only assurance we have as his sons and daughters is Jesus.
