Psalm 34:1-2 “I will bless the LORD at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: The humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.” (KJV)
Praising God is not an obligation, but an opportunity to connect with God intimately. It is an act of displaying gratitude and humility unto the creator of heaven and earth. Our Lord is already glorious and perfect in everyway. He does not need people to glorify or praise Him to get better. However, praising God does have a positive impact on OUR lives.
The above Psalm is written by King David, who confesses his love for God and promises to ceaselessly bless and praise the Lord. Why does God deserve our praise? Why does the Holy Bible stress on it so categorically?
God is praiseworthy because He is our creator and life-giver. His love endures forever and is irreplaceable. His grace is amazing and His forgiveness is never-ending. He is merciful and faithful until the end. His personality and pre-eminence make Him worthy of all praise!
Praising God has a lot of benefits. It renews our strength, especially in difficult times. It brings us victory in times of trouble. When we praise the Lord, we come closer to Him and experience His presence in our lives. There is a feeling of satisfaction and a guarantee of His divine touch.
A prayer without praise is hardly a prayer. Let us, therefore, humble ourselves before the Almighty God, and give Him the praise that He truly deserves.
