Psalm 18:32-33 NKJV
It is God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of deer, and sets me on my high places.
David composed Psalm 18 following his victories over his enemies. He recited this gratitude song after the Lord delivered him from the hands of all his enemies, including Saul. This psalm is also found in 2 Samuel 22, and the chapters preceding it provide the context.
David experienced God-given strength and guidance to fight every battle triumphantly. He thanks God for providing him with the strength to thrive and for directing his paths to victory. He mentions that God gave him swiftness like a deer, allowing him to escape the hands of his foes. The man after God’s own heart rightfully credits God for his successes.
We may not have to rout our enemies like David, but believe it or not, we are engaged in spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:12). But fear not, soldiers of God; instead, put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:14-17). The Holy Spirit and the Word of God will give us wisdom to draw our strength from the Lord to face every battle. God’s presence will make our paths perfect.
Today, we or our loved ones may be struggling with temptation, addiction, oppression, strongholds, or other toxic schemes of the devil. Unless we have the assistance of our Savior, who has already defeated the devil, we cannot triumph. God is the source of our strength, and we must fix our eyes on Him to navigate life according to His perfect ways. Our Father will not allow us to fail; He will guide us toward complete triumph!
