Psalm 33:10
The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect.
David encourages the people of Israel to praise the Lord joyfully with abandon. Praise arises from hearts that completely trust in the Lord, acknowledging His power and love for His children. David speaks of the pointlessness of trusting in anything or anyone in this world that is considered influential and powerful – kings, horses, etc.
The all-powerful God who watches over His children makes void the plans of nations and people. He is sovereign over all and can cause everything to work according to His plans and purposes. There is nothing and no one that can stand in His way.
His power is evident in His Word, His creative power, and His omniscience. He is all-knowing and all-seeing. He loves His children and watches over them. Because of His love and power, we can entrust our lives, our plans, our goings, and our comings to Him.
We are encouraged to hope in this omnipotent God, the One who loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die for us to be reconciled to Him. There is nothing greater than how He displays His love for His children. Do we need any further cause to lean on Him fully, trust Him, and praise Him?
When things don’t go your way, be assured that your obedience to God, your complete surrender to Him, your praise and worship to the One who ordains your steps, and your exclusive love and devotion for Him will keep you in His plans and purposes. Stay steadfast in Him!
