Trusting God’s Protection

When you lie down, you will not be afraid; yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet.” Proverbs 3:24

As believers, we say that we are justified in Christ because of His sacrifice. It is not by our works, but by the faith that we have in Christ. The salvation that has been freely given. But in the body of Christ, we have to keep doing the work, not to achieve His standard but to be kingdom workers.

In today’s verse, which is Proverbs 3.24, it says, When you lie down, you will not be afraid. In today’s world, we may not be in the midst of constant wars, but we are constantly surrounded by a changing world. Sometimes through social media, sometimes through personal differences, sometimes through people and life, and sometimes through changes in policies and governance in our country. Today is February 20th, and it is a world day of social justice. Socially, we are all connected, and everybody deserves justice. So there is a justice system that is present. But if you look at it from above – the bird’s-eye view of God’s justice – He is a just God. And even if evil happens to us, especially through people, He tells us not to avenge because He’s the avenger.

Today, we are constantly threatened, and many of us have gone through injustice. Yet, the social justice system that is present in every country, especially in our country, is just; it’s based on the law, and it gives us rights and also authority. Above all, God is a protector, and He tells us that when we lie down or sleep, even though there are challenges, changing circumstances, threats, and fears, we will not be afraid because our protector is God Himself. He rules the realm above us, which is a spiritual realm. Nobody is beyond Him. He never sleeps or slumbers. Psalm 121 says my help comes from the Lord. So as believers, we should constantly devote our time and know that God is our constant help.
