Psalm 91:7 – A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand but it will not come near you.
Belonging to the weakest clan of Israel and being the minor of a family member, Gideon only saw the oppression of Medians on his people. He wondered if the God who brought his forefathers out from Egypt was still with them until God chose Gideon himself to strike down all the Midianites. He could not believe so he dared to ask for signs from God and God in His mercy did not deny Gideon what he asked.
Not only did he win against the Midianites with just three hundred men but also without lifting a single sword to kill. Gideon literally saw thousands falling at his side because GOD WAS WITH him.
Not every battle has to be won by our actions or doings. Sometimes all it takes is to trust in the One who created us and leave the rest to Him.
Troubles will come as long as we live on Earth but the Psalmist tells us that none of these will have any effect on us. The same God who used Gideon to defeat the strong army of Midianites will fight battles on our behalf and “ no weapon formed against us shall prosper “- Isaiah 54:7
