Matthew 17:20 – … I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
In the above verse, Jesus was speaking to his disciples after a man brought his son to the disciples to be healed from epilepsy. The disciples had failed to cure the man’s son. Jesus called the disciples faithless. They asked Jesus why they were unable to cure the boy, the way Jesus cured him. Jesus told them that if they had faith as tiny as the size of a mustard seed, they could perform miracles in the name of God. Then, they would be able to move mountains, and nothing would be impossible for them.
The mustard seed is a very small seed. That’s all the faith we need in God to see miracles in our lives and in the lives of others. Just like a mustard seed grows into a big herb, so will our faith grow in God as we experience His work in our lives. Whatever be the obstacles that come in our way, we will be able to move them, because the God of Hosts rewards our faith in Him and works miracles for us.
In Philippians 4:13, it is said that we can do all things through Jesus Christ who gives us strength. We don’t have to rely on our strengths or focus on our weaknesses. We need to look to God and trust in Him without a shadow of a doubt, with utmost faith and ‘He’ will move the mountains for us.
Dear Lord, in these difficult and different times, there is so much pain and suffering all around us. Lord, we so often let doubt overtake our faith in You. At this time Lord, we submit ourselves to You and trust You God because we know that You are in control of every situation and that You will protect us, your children, from all harm and sickness. Amen.
