Walking by the Spirit

Philippians 3:3 NKJV

“For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.”

When we become believers, the things that once held value fade in comparison to the worth found in Christ. Paul, understanding this, did not hesitate to confront those corrupting the faith (Philippians 3:2). He was a faithful mentor, fiercely protective of the faith, and keen on safeguarding the unity and faith of believers.

When we connect with and pursue the things of the Spirit, the deeds of the flesh die naturally. They don’t hold any value for us because living by the Spirit is of much more eternal significance in comparison. That’s why, in the Bible, God often separates His children from the world and the culture around them. He doesn’t want our faith to get mutilated by the evil influences of the world.

While that is no excuse to live a lonely life, keeping our heart with all diligence and walking in the Spirit is a command our Heavenly Father gives us lovingly. The world might call us from all directions and crave our attention, but we live for the crowd of One.

Our calling is to continue the legacy of Christ. As the Message version puts it, “The real believers are the ones the Spirit of God leads to work away at this ministry, filling the air with Christ’s praise as we do it.” Remember it is not the force of the world or church regulations that fuel you; you are motivated by your love for Christ!
