Exodus 4:2 – “And the Lord said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.”
When God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, he wasn’t exactly eager to accept the mission. Moses kept giving the Lord excuses, trying to explain why he wasn’t the man for the job. But God wouldn’t allow Moses to get away that easily. Moses had only a shepherd’s rod in his hand, but God used it lead a nation to freedom.
God asks each of us the same question… What’s in your hand? When we willingly surrender what we have to God and allow Him to use it, He will work wonders with it. A plain shepherd’s rod that was used to herd sheep became the rod of God, as we see in Exodus 4:20, “…and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.”
What do you have in your hand today? Can you surrender it to God? It might be your past, your education, your talents, or even your experiences. If you think it’s not good enough to be used by God, you underestimate God. Hand over what you have into God’s hands, take a step back, and allow Him to do wonders through it. God will not only bless you in your sweet place of surrender, He’ll also bless others throughout you.
