Wholly for Jesus

1 Thessalonians 5:23

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hallelujah! What a blessed Word to close this year with and march into a victorious 2026!

Our body, soul, and spirit define our entire being. We need to live wholly for Jesus, yielding to His will without reservation. Yes, we will sin. But our overarching desire should be to disconnect ourselves from our sinful inclinations through the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit.

We cannot sanctify ourselves because we have fallen short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). But Christ is our righteousness, and we stand tall on this foundational truth. He alone can guard and keep our hearts and minds blameless in holiness, until the coming of our Lord.

As we approach the final hours of this year, take time to reflect on God’s unfailing faithfulness that has carried you to this point. How He walked with you during those painful moments and rejoiced over your joy and success. How He lifted you on His shoulders when you couldn’t even crawl. When everyone was against you, how His voice came, “I am here for you!” When you were crying in grief, how He spread His wings and comforted you.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. As Paul declares emphatically, the ONE who calls you is faithful, and He will do it (1 Thessalonians 5:24). We can rest assured that we will enjoy Him in greater measure in the coming year.

Let us pray. Father, thank you for being there during my highs and lows, the calms and storms, the losses and gains, the joys and griefs of the past year. Drench my heart with your peace and mould my spirit, soul, and body for your perfect will. I declare with unflinching faith that I will be kept by Your power in the coming year as well. The God of peace be with us all. Amen.
